Maglock and electric strike installation and repair

Bee Locksmith installs and repairs maglocks and electric strikes for building entrances, offices and storefronts in New York City and the tri-state area. Our own technicians prep the door and frame, mount the lock, run the power and release wiring, and test egress, so the electrified lock, the door and the intercom or reader work together.

Electrified locking

  • Electromagnetic locks (maglocks) and brackets
  • Electric strikes for wood, metal and aluminum frames
  • Power supplies, relays and request-to-exit devices
  • Releases from intercoms, readers and push buttons
  • Repair of maglocks that lost holding force or alignment

Brands we install and service

We install and service Securitron maglocks, HES electric strikes and Von Duprin electrified exit devices, along with other electrified hardware lines.

Door position switches and power transfers

Access control needs to know whether the door is actually shut, not just locked. A door position switch (door contact) in the frame reports door-open, door-forced and door-held-open events, and can trigger a local alarm or camera. To get power and signal into an electrified lock or exit device on the door itself, we install a power transfer or electrified hinge in the hinge side of the frame, or a concealed door loop, so no wires are exposed across the gap. Our door division preps the frame and door; our low-voltage technicians wire and test it. See hollow metal frames, exit alarms and pharmacy and cash room doors.

The door, the lock, and the release are one job. We don't hand that off.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a maglock and an electric strike?

A maglock holds the door with a magnet; an electric strike releases the latch in the frame. The right choice depends on the door and egress needs.

Why won't my door release when buzzed?

Common causes are the strike, the power supply, the wiring or the door binding on the strike. We test all of it.

Can you install a maglock on a glass door?

Yes, with the correct glass-door brackets.

Do you wire the release to our intercom?

Yes. Intercom, reader and lock are handled as one job.
