Mul-T-Lock SMARTair wireless access control
SMARTair is ASSA ABLOY's wireless access control platform, offered in the US through Mul-T-Lock. Battery-powered escutcheons and cylinders replace keyed hardware on interior doors, without running wire to every door. Bee Locksmith is an authorized Mul-T-Lock dealer, and our locksmiths and low-voltage technicians install SMARTair on offices, amenity rooms, storage rooms and multi-unit buildings in New York City and the tri-state area.

- Wireless electronic escutcheons with built-in reader and lever, such as SMARTair i-max (card, PIN or phone)
- Electronic cylinders for doors where an escutcheon won't fit
- Wall readers for entrances and doors with electric locks
- Cards and fobs, with the same credential across SMARTair doors

How SMARTair is managed
SMARTair can run at different levels, and doors can be upgraded later: standalone (programmed at the door), update-on-card, where access rights and lost-card blacklists travel on the user's card after it is updated at a wall reader, and wireless/online, where doors talk to the software through communication hubs for real-time changes and audit trails. Mul-T-Lock's SMARTair i-max literature also lists PIN, card plus PIN, and smartphone opening with the Openow mobile app, where virtual keys can be sent, changed and cancelled; we confirm what your doors and software support before we quote.
See the official manufacturer catalogs on our product catalogs page.
Where it fits
- Offices and suites that need access control on interior doors without new wiring
- Co-op and condo amenity rooms: gyms, roof decks, laundry and bike rooms
- Storage rooms, package rooms and back-of-house in multi-unit buildings
- Buildings already on a Mul-T-Lock master key system that want to add electronic access door by door
Installed by the same team as the door
Our locksmiths prep the door and fit the escutcheon or cylinder, our door division fixes the door if it doesn't latch, and our low-voltage technicians set up the readers and software. For wired systems and maglocks, see access control.
Frequently asked questions
Is SMARTair a Mul-T-Lock product?
SMARTair is ASSA ABLOY's wireless access platform, offered in the US through Mul-T-Lock. We are an authorized Mul-T-Lock dealer.
Do SMARTair locks need wiring?
The escutcheons and cylinders are battery powered. Wall readers and wireless hubs need power and a connection.
What is update-on-card?
Access rights are written to the card at an updater reader and carried to each door, so you can change access and block lost cards without visiting every door.
Can we start small and expand?
Yes. Many buildings start with a few amenity doors and add doors or move to wireless management later.
Can SMARTair use phones as credentials?
Yes, with the Openow mobile app on compatible SMARTair devices such as the i-max escutcheon. We confirm what your doors and software support before we quote.
