What "high security" should mean
- Resistance to attack: protection against picking, bumping and drilling, built into the cylinder design.
- Key control: patented or restricted keys that can only be duplicated through an authorized dealer with the owner's authorization, usually backed by a key card.
- Standards: some insurers and specifications ask for cylinders listed to a recognized standard such as UL 437. If yours does, tell us and we specify accordingly.

Formats that fit existing doors
- Mortise cylinders for mortise locks on apartment, office and storefront doors
- Rim cylinders for rim locks and exit devices
- European profile cylinders for multipoint and European doors (see European hardware)
- Deadbolts and padlocks on the same keyway where needed
Master keying and key records
High-security cylinders can be master keyed, so a super or manager carries one key while tenants' keys open only their doors. We keep the key records and the authorization list with your account. See master key systems.
Choosing a platform
Mul-T-Lock offers several key platforms at different levels of security and key control. We match the platform to the opening and to how tightly you need to control copies, and we can retrofit many existing locks without replacing the whole lock body. See Mul-T-Lock and commercial locks.
